Recent ActivityI was born and raised in the Yakima Valley and graduated from Naches School District in 1980. My Registered Nurse degree was obtained at YVCC in 1988. Upon graduation fron Nursing School I began working at Yakima Valley School in Selah, providing nursing services for handicapped residents. At Yakima Valley School I became a Nursing Supervisor in 1992. In 1994 I began working as the District Nurse for Naches Valley School District where I have been employed since. I continue to work at the Yakima Valley School during the summer months. I am married and have 3 daughters. I thoroughly enjoy working with the staff, students and families at Naches School District and strive to ensure the well-being of all students so that they can learn to the best of their ability in a healthy environment.

No "Health Alert Announcements" exist(s) Heath information  Dear Parents, As of 7-26-09 our state legislature has repealed the mandate to screen all public school children for scoliosis. Since School Nurses will no longer be screening students I wanted to send you an update on identification of scoliosis. If you have any concerns about your child please call me and I will be happy to screen your child and make the appropriate referral to a Licensed Health Care Provider as needed. Scoliosis of the spine is an abnormal curve of the spine with a rotational deformity. This means that the spine turns on its axis like a corkscrew. Most scoliosis goes undetected and does not cause any problems. Occasionally scoliosis is bad enough that bracing or surgery is indicated. The symptoms of scoliosis are uneven musculature on one side of the spine. This may look like a rib hump, a prominent shoulder blade, one shoulder being higher than the other or an uneven hip. Pain is occasionally considered a symptom of scoliosis. Most symptoms of scoliosis are picked up by parents or during a well-child visit. If you have any concerns that your child may have scoliosis please call your school nurse. Department Files
